ČSOB is a leading Slovak bank with more than 50 years of presence. Its name is an abbreviation of the official name „Československá obchodná banka“, which dates back to the times of the former Czechoslovakia. In 1964, the state participated in the establishment of ČSOB through its majority shareholder – Štátna banka Československá. In the then Czechoslovakia, ČSOB was the only bank that provided foreign trade financing and supervised foreign currency loans from international markets. After the Velvet Revolution in 1989, ČSOB started to provide its services not only to the then foreign trade companies, but also to newly emerging businesses and individuals. The product expansion was accompanied by an icrease in the number of points of sale/branches.

ČSOB. Pre vás osobne.

In 1999, a number of banking houses in the then Czechoslo¬vakia were privatised and KBC Bank, a Belgian bank belonging to the KBC Group, one of the largest and most powerful financial groups in Europe, became a shareholder of ČSOB.

In order to increase the market share of ČSOB in Slovakia, in 2009 the shareholder bought the then Istrobanka, which in Slovakia belonged to the Austrian group BAWAG P.S.K. Eleven years later, in 2020, the shareholder KBC Group again with the same objective also bought the then OTP Banka Slovensko, a Slovak member of the Hungarian banking group OTP Group.

Today, ČSOB is one of the largest Slovak banks and, thanks to the other members of the ČSOB Financial Group, provides a wide portfolio of products and services to retail clients, SMEs, the corporate segment, and private clients. Its portfolio of products and services includes mortgages, current accounts, consumer loans, savings and investment products, electronic banking, socially responsible funds, securities management and custody, life and non-life insurance products, as well as leasing products and professional consulting.
